Sydney's First Day of Kindergarten

Sydney has been waiting to go to kindergarten for a long time.  She has seen her brother go through two school years and has been so excited to go herself.  We also forgot to tell her she had to wait until fall.  When she would ask when she got to go to school we would tell her when she was five she could go.  Well her birthday came in February and she was very distraught to learn she still had to wait six months! August did come though and she was ready!

The first day was orientation so parents came too and we only stayed about two hours and the kindergartners came home with us.  She was disappointed that she didn't get to stay the whole day.

Her first full day of school came the next day and boy was it eventful.  Mom didn't get to see her off to school because I was at a volleyball game 3 hours away.  Aug. 23 at 1:51 brought a 5.8 earthquake to Virginia!  The kids were escorted outside and not allowed back in.  Our friend Duste picked the kids up at 2:45 and they were very worried that they couldn't go back in and get their stuff.

When I talked to Sydney the next day she was still excited to go, even though the first day had been so rough!  Sydney's class was relocated to the mod's because of a crack in the room, they were worried about structural damage.  Everything and everyone turned out OK and now it was time to begin learning.
