Halloween

Carving pumpkins for FHE. Ready for Trunk or Treat. Sydney was Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz thanks to Great Grandma Otteson for making and sending the costume. It was adorable. Landon was a fire fighter and after some convincing allowed me to put black smudges on his face. Of course after we got them there he couldn't wait to show everyone. The day of Halloween someone had trouble with their sewing machine and asked me to finish this adult Dorothy dress. I found it quite ironic that I hadn't had to put together my own kids costumes but here I was making a last minute costume that was the same as Sydney's. Well not the same, Grandma's Dorothy costume was of much better quality. We had quite the Halloween schedule, Trunk or Treat, trick or treating at SVU with the preschool, Trick or treating down town, and then the kids went with Chad that night to a few houses around us. After all was said and done they had two big bowls of candy. I got tired of the constant obsession for candy weather it was mine or the kids, so I proposed a trade. The kids picked out 7 pieces of their favorite candy to be given after naps for a week. The rest was sent to Chad's athletes and the kids got to pick out a $5 toy at Walmart. Well worth the $10! Landon tells everyone that he traded his candy for a toy, and he even refused candy from preschool the next day. Sydney was much harder to convince but she came around with Landon's excitement.

What a good mom you are. I hope Karli will trade candy for toys! You even painted Sydney's fingernails...what a girly girl!
