Our fruit trees yielded a ton of fruit this year. The time I didn't spend taking care of the kids or coaching volleyball, I spent canning. I made; apple pie filling, apple fruit leather, pie fruit leather, dried apple rings, dried cinnamon and sugar apple snacks, bottled pears, pear sauce, and pear jam. It was a long canning season, but I sure learned a lot. Oh yeah I attempted apple jelly and it didn't turn out so well. For those who haven't made this mistake, don't try and double a jelly recipe, unless you want it to turn out like tar. It worked well as an object lesson though. We were reading to Landon in the Friend about when Joseph Smith was tarred and feathered. When he asked what tar was we just showed him the pot of "jelly." He got the point quickly.

I'm VERY impressed Martha...I mean...Michelle!
I am so impressed. I would love to learn how to can...maybe that'll be a 2009 goal!
