SVU this year for a fundraiser did a 5k for 5 $k. So for everyone that ran the 5 kilometers (3.2 miles), there was a donor to donate $5k. It was put on by Buena Vista and SVU. Chad was asked to Head Medical Coverage, so he couldn't run. But the rest of the Mahaffey Clan (except Annalese of course, she rode) ran the 5k. They did AWESOME!!! It was supposed to be a rainy day, and did rain A LOT over night and then all morning. But whether by divine intervention, or just a nice break in the weather, the sun peaked through the clouds a little, but mostly just stayed overcast, but with no Rain. Michelle pushed the jogging stroller with Lese in it the entire time. Landon, Sydney, and Keely intermixed jogging and walking. Landon was the Mahaffey's First Finisher at 45 min. On the last quarter mile, he separated himself from the Mahaffey, Grawrock pack and finished through the line Strong. Sydney and Keely both rode in the stroller a little bit, but mostly did the 5k on their own. Michelle, Sydney, Keely and Lese all crossed the finish line a little under 1 hour, at a good paced run. You will notice Landon has a Ton of color all over him at the finish. Along the run, there were people throwing colored chalk dust and participants could choose to run through it or not. Landon, as you will see decided to take FULL advantage, and Sydney did a little. Michelle, Keely, and Annalese all had just trace amounts as ALL the participants got a little just due to wind. Michelle said that the color stations must have been strategically placed where they were because it invigorated the kids at points along the run where they were kind of getting a little tired. They got to those posts and got another wind. They all had so much fun! Chad felt very jealous that they got to do it and he had to cover the medical aspect of things. It's the 1st annual 5k for 5k, so maybe next year, they will allow Chad to run in the race with his family, and just cover the race from the course! It was such a Fun day though, all the kids LOVED it, and can't wait for next year to do it again!

Landon Did great, finishing by himself and running strong! I think he enjoyed running across the finish line with no-one else around and having everyone there cheering just for him. He look pretty happy!
