Vacation...is that just another name for more work???

Ok, well, it was vacation, and we did have a BLAST!! It was awesome. For those of you who know about Virginia, and some of the surrounding landscape...The best beach area around is known as the Outer Banks. It is in North Carolina, and a good 6 hour drive away from Buena Vista. That is where our story begins. Actually, the drive down was pretty uneventful. The kids did great. The 6 hour drive only took a little longer due to gas and potty stops. We went to a K.O.A campground that was VERY nice. It was a great spot, and from our camp spot to the beach was around a 200 yrd walk. We got there late Wednesday night. We got Landon from his last day as a Kindergardener, and left right from there. The fun started RIGHT when we got to the camp ground. IT WAS POURING!!! Rain that is. The sky looked like the fourth of July with one color of fireworks - lightening white. It was crazy. It was raining so Hard, we couldn't see out the windows of the car. So, we decided to pay a little more the first night, and got a cabin that they have there. They were small but a lifesaver, saving us from Pitching a tent in a DOWNPOUR, and sleeping in wetness for the weekend. The rest of the weekend was much better, no rain, so we pitched the tent the next day and slept in that the rest of the time. The kids were VERY excited about that as they had been looking forward to sleeping in a tent for a long time. We did the beach thing right off the bat the next day and had a blast picking up sea shells and the kids getting all wet in their jamies. We also visited the Cape Hatteras lighthouse, which happens to be the tallest in the US, and the Tallest Brick built in the world. That day was also very fun, if you can stand the 94 degree weather, with the probably somewhere around 80% humidity. We ate some of the local catch for dinner, and then finished the day at the KOAs pool. The kids...again...did very well for the day, as well as can be expected of sleep deprived, WAY TOO hot and sticky, and constantly hungry and thirsty little kids. We also visited the aquarium there at Cape Hatteras, the beach, the shipwreck museum, the beach, the pool, the beach, played at the camp site, and the beach. We went with the Grawrocks and we are glad that we did. Matt brought his surfboard, and the kids had fun on that. Also, they planned the trip, and we loved every minute of it. It was a Great Vacation...especially since that was one place we have had on our list of trips to take that we made when we got to Virginia.
