"First Day of School! First Day of School!"

We found ourselves quoting "Finding Nemo" all day today. Landon was super excited for his first day. Some of the pictures were taken yesterday during Kindergarten Orientation. We had him all hyped up for kindergarten yesterday during orientation, but it didn't go exactly like we thought it would. The kids just sat there while the parents got instruction, and he was quite bored. He kept whining and wanted to leave. He told me kindergarten was too long and he didn't want to come back. Luckily Chad and I talked to him and let him know that kindergarten was way more fun when parents aren't there. To our relief he thought so too! Landon outside his classroom. You have to love classroom management! Landon and Mrs. Royer All smiles for Kindergarten Driving in the car on the way to school. Landon running to class. Ice cream after our first day. Yes our first day, it was a big day for Chad and I too! It feels very strange to be a school age child parent. I kept thinking during the day, "Should I call and check up on him?" Even though I knew the answer was "NO." It just feels strange to have someone else watching out for him for the majority of the day. Full day kindergarten is quite a long day for those 5 year olds. Landon has a great teacher, and she made sure to write a note about how he did. He stayed on the smily face all day! He was excited about that, and she wrote, "Please remember to be quite while the teacher is talking." Oops! We are probably a little too excited for school. We're so proud of you Landon!

Getting started is a very odd feeling. I wanted to follow Lilly's bus to make sure she made it to her class, but I didn't. The next days are easier, especially if he likes it. I can't believe we are old enough to even have kindergartners.

We love Mrs. Royer! She was Jared's teacher and he loved her. She is so personable and great to work with. Actually the whole Kindergarden team is great. I miss Enderly more than Jared I think. Landon will have a great year. Volunteer (after volleyball) if you can. It is so much fun watching your kid interact with friends at school.

Love it--what a handsome, grown-up boy! In the background of the pic w/Mrs. Royer is Mrs. Miller, who was the swim teacher for my kids this summer. Landon probably won't ever work with her individually (I think she mostly does resource), but she is an awesome lady, too!!!

Fun times in Mrs. Royer's class--though she's happy where she's at, Kaylin misses Mrs. Royer, too!

And way to go, Mommy...this growing-up process isn't easy!
